Troop: 94
Eagle Project Location: Dubuque County Conservation
Eagle Project Description: Jonah built Mallard Nest Cylinders for Dubuque County Conservation, placing them throughout marsh areas. Steel poles were welded to baseplates to attach the wire cylinders filled with straw. The team had to wait until the water was frozen over to make it easier to place the cylinders in the wetlands. Holes were drilled through the ice and the poles were set, creating a place for hens to nest and have their ducklings.
What does being an Eagle Scout mean to you?
Being prepared for life. Serving my community to the best of my ability and giving one hundred percent to everything in life.
If you had to describe your entire Scouting experience with just one word, what word would you choose? Why?
Teacher. Because I was a teacher to many younger Scouts and I was taught by my Scoutmaster and he made me who I am.
How did earning the rank prepare you for the future?
Life as a whole feels much less stressful and I am not afraid to make an impact in the world.
By doing your Eagle Service Project, what did you learn about managing or leading people?
Leadership, I planned and executed a massive project which required me to teach, lead and give multiple speeches.
What advice would you give to younger Scouts who aspire to become Eagle Scouts?
Never give up!! The road is long and very hard but it is worth it.
Please share a favorite Scouting memory.
