Eagle Scout – Luke Morarend

Name: Luke Morarend

Hometown: Dubuque, Iowa

Troop: 51

Eagle Project Location: Kennedy Elementary School in Dubuque, Iowa

Eagle Project Description: Luke built a handicap accessible gaga ball pit at Kennedy Elementary School in Dubuque.

What is your proudest achievement on your path to becoming an Eagle Scout? My proudest achievement is seeing how much the kids at Kennedy enjoyed my project. The teachers had to establish a schedule for kids to play in it after lunch.

How did earning the rank prepare you for the future? Earning this rank gave me confidence in myself and more respect for who deal with large scale projects regularly. Becoming an Eagle Scout also taught me how to plan ahead and take responsibility for how my project turned out.

What advice would you give to younger Scouts who aspire to become Eagle Scouts? Scouting is one of the best opportunities for self-growth, learning skills, and experiencing places most adults won’t see in their lifetimes. No matter how boring or difficult it seems now you will end up looking back at good memories. I advise Scouts to stick with it to the end and give your best run at Eagle Scout, you won’t regret it.
