Amanda Dirksen Volunteer Spotlight

The Northeast Iowa Council is pleased to honor Amanda Dirksen as a Spotlight Volunteer! Amanda currently serves as the Bear Den Leader and Popcorn Kernel for Pack 38. She has been involved in Scouting for four years.

Amanda and her two sons, Evan and Hunter have a Chihuahua (Peppy), a cat (Mama Mystery), and a guinea pig (Mocha).  Outside of Scouting Amanda manages an agricultural cooperative and mentors with Helping Services for Youth and Families in Northeast Iowa. In her free time, Amanda enjoys spending time with her kids, nieces, and nephews.

What motivates you to give your time to Scouting?
I was in Girl Scouts for over 10 years and was a leader after that for 1 year. I remember the difference my leaders made in my life and hope to do the same.

What aspects of Scouting do you enjoy the most?
I love watching the kids soak in the knowledge and take a lesson away. I also love watching them grow each year whether in Scouts or school or in life.

On behalf of the Northeast Iowa Council, please help us say thank you to a very dedicated Scouter, Amanda Dirksen!
