What motivates you to give your time to Scouting?
The laughter of the kids and watching them grow.
What aspects of Scouting do you enjoy the most?
How we are giving our kids skills to survive in the outdoors.
What have you learned through Scouting?
I have learned how many plants are actually poisonous, how to make knots and what they are used for, and how to be safe in the outdoors but still have fun.
What advice can you give to new Scouting parents?
The more you get involved the more fun you are going to have. You don’t have to know what you’re doing, but you will learn. Come to roundtable, meet the veteran Scouters, and get advice. They will help you out so much – I have 7 of them on speed dial. I don’t know everything in Scouts, I am still learning, so when I get stuck I have veteran Scouters to rely on. They will talk me through it and give me proper advice and show me where to turn.
Please share a favorite Scouting.
My first camping trip with Pack 15 – we were at Camp Burton watching these 6 year old boys picking up sticks to build a fire. I was so nervous but Chris Thill said if they are going to be in Scouts, they need to learn now because this is something they need to do all the time.
On behalf of the Northeast Iowa Council, please help us say thank you to a very dedicated Scouter, Anezka Lungwitz!
