What motivates you to give your time to Scouting?
I enjoy teaching the Scouts how to be self sufficient by earning their own money to put towards their Scouting activities.
What aspects of Scouting do you enjoy the most?
Family night at Camp Klaus is always a favorite as I love visiting my Scout and I love having them give me a tour around their camp site and show me their favorite activities. All the stories that they share during that time are music to my ears.
What advice can you give to new Scouting parents?
Be active with your Scout. Scouting is not just an activity but rather it is a family. The connections that both you and your Scout make will be lifelong and you will never regret the decision to be active in the program.
Please share a favorite Scouting memory.
When my first son was in Scouting and I took over as the kernel he was the super seller Saturday winner for the council and he received a Nintendo Wii as his prize. Being able to award him that in a surprise manner at his pack meeting and seeing his excitement was very memorable!
On behalf of the Northeast Iowa Council, please help us say thank you to a very dedicated Scouter, Becky Schmidt!
