The Northeast Iowa Council is pleased to honor Chris Schrumpf as a Spotlight Volunteer! Chris currently serves as an assistant Scoutmaster for Troop 11 and is the Scouting for Food chair. This is his 16th year in Scouting.
Chris and his wife, Kelley, have four kids – Brad, Ashley, Kyle, and Tyler. They also have a dog, Bailey, and cat, Fluffy. Outside of Scouting Chris volunteers at his church, enjoys traveling and loves his job.
What motivates you to give your time to Scouting?
The opportunity to make a positive difference in a young person’s life.
What advice can you give to new Scouting parents?
Be involved in inspiring your child in Scouting and volunteer to help make the troop or pack’s experience the best it can be.
What have you learned through Scouting?
I have learned that Scouting betters mankind and nature through its fundamental teachings. A young person can truly explore many paths through merit badges and learn skills that will benefit them the rest of their life. Following the Scout oath, law, and outdoor code helps them become fine citizens and great role models.
Please share a favorite Scouting memory.
Boundary Waters 2016 with my 2 sons. It started badly with 3 people having to drop out after the first day, but we found a remarkable campsite and had a memorable time the rest of the week.
