Dan Fiske – Volunteer Spotlight

The Northeast Iowa Council is pleased to honor Dan Fiske as a Spotlight Volunteer! Dan currently serves as an Assistant Scoutmaster for Troop 69 in his 16th year of Scouting. He was awarded the Scouting Spirit Award for Troop 69 in 2020.

What motivates you to give your time to Scouting?
Being able to give back to the organization what it has has given and taught me throughout my years in the program.

What aspects of Scouting do you enjoy the most?
I enjoy the community outreach and impact that Scouting has on the world around us.

What have you learned through Scouting?
I have learned leadership and practical application skills while fine tuning time management and communication abilities.

What advice can you give to new Scouting parents?
Encourage your Scouts to push hard and work hard to achieve their Eagle Scout Rank. But along the way have your Scout stop, and take in/savor the moment.

Please share a favorite Scouting memory.
Serving on staff of Scout camp for 2 years and directly influencing the Scouting experience of hundreds of Scouts both in the welding merit badge and generally throughout camp.
