Troop: 38
Eagle Project Location: Monona City Butterfly Garden in Monona, Iowa
Eagle Project Description: Jonah built a bridge at the Monona City Butterfly Garden. Concrete footings were poured, stringer boards laid, frame was built and set, along with adding spindles and rails. The bridge provided a path to the area where the monarchs roost during their migration.
What does being an Eagle Scout mean to you?
I have learned a multitude of valuable skills that I will be able to use, and teach the rest of my life.
If you had to describe your entire Scouting experience with just one word, what word would you choose? Why?
Unforgettable. I will never forget the fun memories I made through Scouting and the lessons and skills I learned through them.
How did earning the rank prepare you for the future?
Developing leadership skills through this rank will help me be successful and help others with success in the future.
By doing your Eagle Service Project, what did you learn about managing or leading people?
It is not easy, and sometimes you have too many people for the amount of tasks you have but a good manager is able to balance the two.
What advice would you give to younger Scouts who aspire to become Eagle Scouts?
Don’t give up. It is not easy and very stressful to earn this rank, but the lessons, skills, and experiences you get will pay dividends in the future.
Please share a favorite Scouting memory.
My favorite memory is doing ceremonies for the Order of the Arrow. The bond and brotherhood you build with the others is a lifetime treasure and always makes for exciting nights.
