Name: Wade Oakland
Troop: 64
Eagle Project Location: Oakland Cemetery in Waukon, Iowa
Eagle Project Description: Wade replaced concrete for 18 flagpole holders in Oakland Cemetery to allow the VFW to place flags for those killed in action easier on Memorial Day. What does being an Eagle Scout mean to you?
Being an Eagle Scout means that I have achieved my goal that I set for myself the first time I went to an Eagle Scout Court of Honor as a Cub Scout.
How did earning the rank prepare you for the future?
Earning the rank of Eagle has prepared me for the future by teaching me to be a hard worker and a kind person.
What advice would you give to younger Scouts who aspire to become Eagle Scouts?
I would tell them if they ever felt like quitting stick with it; it is worth it.
Please share a favorite Scouting memory.
My favorite Scouting memory would have to be my first year of summer camp. Even though we spent half of the week in a storm shelter, we were still able to have a good time.
