Cub Scouts from Pack 50 recently rolled up their sleeves and put their motto – Do a Good Turn Daily – into action by volunteering with the Bicycle Food Mission in Dubuque. The Scouts and their families worked together to prepare meals for neighbors in need, proving that service starts with simple acts of service.
Den Leader, Rachelle Vize, shared, “As previous volunteers, Andy and I wanted to share the experience of actively serving our community involving Scouts and their parents in meal preparation. It was fantastic to see Scouts smile while rolling burritos and counting oranges. Volunteering helped inspire Scouting families, showing them firsthand that their work, service, and time CAN make a difference in the lives of others in our community.”
For the Scouts, the experience was just as meaningful. Dean V., a Bear Scout, summed it up perfectly: “It was awesome! It was really fun to make the meals, and nice to help with the gift of food for the less fortunate.”
