Eagle Scout Dawson Elliott

Troop: 5

Eagle Project location: St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Peosta, IA

Eagle Project: Dawson Elliott added an outdoor rosary onto a previous Eagle Scout’s prayer space at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Peosta. Dawson organized volunteers to lay colored concrete around the existing sidewalk, which 20 steel posts were then fabricated and secured to. He assisted another volunteer with building a handmade cross to be placed at the beginning of the rosary. Designs were made and laser engraved into 20 18” x 12” granite slabs that were then secured to the steel posts by his crew. They also added two small statues and solar lighting to the flower bed at the center along with two rose bushes and several other flowers. Two benches were put together and set along the rosary’s path to provide more seating to pray. The space allows for a prayerful space in nature as well as assisting those with ADHD to be able to move while they pray.
